Tasmanian Farm Forestry Marketing and Financial Analysis Project 2001
This project was developed by Private Forests Tasmania (PFT), with Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) funding, to provide practical, credible and commercially based information for growers and investors interested in farm forestry.
The project focused on providing information on both product prices and costs of farm forestry in Tasmania. The intention was for private forest owners to have access to sufficient market information to enable them to maximise value from gain in the supply of forest products.
The four documents in the series are available in hard copy from all PFT offices or you can download all three Market Reports here as .pdf files.
This project complemented the FARM FORESTRY PROGRAM (2000 X 2000 Radiata Pine Project), the Federal Government's 2020 Vision and the Tasmanian Government's Directions Statement which included 10,000 hectares of new plantation development.
Evaluation of Environmental Services 2003
The discussion paper Evaluation of Environmental Services Provided by Farm Forestry, URS December 2003 presents an analysis of environmental services delivered by the Private Forests Tasmania farm forestry devolved grant project as part of its Natural Heritage Trust program.
This groundbreaking report has found that there are tangible environmental benefits flowing from the private farm forestry sector and PFT is keen to explore the potential of this type of analysis. The principles could be applied to a range of different settings such as whole farm forestry planning, community level agreements, natural resource management strategies, regional development planning and state policy development.
