QuickBird Satellite Imagery

In 2006 Private Forests Tasmania established a consortium of public sector agencies and private companies to invest in the purchase of "Quickbird" high resolution satellite imagery of the private property estate (including forests) in Tasmania.

Collectively the consortium has invested $600,000 for fully geo-referenced, colour imagery at 0.6 metres resolution over the target area. There is no other commercially available satellite imagery of higher resolution.

There are a wide range of applications for QuickBird satellite imagery such as property management planning, and monitoring and assessment of vegetation cover.

Private Forests Tasmania can now make this imagery available, as it comes on line, for purchase in the open market to individual landowners, businesses and other Government agencies.
