Targeted Vegetation Protection and Maintenance Project
The Northern Natural Resource Management (NRM) Strategy provides a vision and a way
forward for the future management, maintenance and enhancement of Tasmania’s Northern
Region’s natural resources.
The ‘Targeted Vegetation Protection and Maintenance Project’ developed by NRM North, provides assistance to landholders to manage,
enhance and maintain regional vegetation assets identifi ed in the strategy.
The project is funded through the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust program, and will be delivered by Private Forests Tasmania in partnership with the local community in 2007-2008.
THE PROJECT WILL PROVIDE: PLANNING AND ON-GROUND WORKS ON PRIVATE LAND to: • enhance; and • manage biodiversity values.
protection and enhancement of threatened species habitat and maintenance of existing
protected vegetation and habitat.
THIS PROJECT WILL DELIVER INCENTIVE FUNDING FOR THE FOLLOWING:
• Site Maintenance Plans and Management agreements;
• Fencing of threatened vegetation communities and species habitat;
• Water troughs; and
• Maintenance activities on past projects.
